I don't think that having to live up to the "manly role" is such a bad thing like Paul Theroux claims it to be. The things we go through isn't a bad thing it makes us stronger and makes us want to push for better. Take sports for an example it teaches u team work leadership for others keeps your body in shape. If and when you lose its should teach you two things one how to hold your head up high that you gave it your best and two it should push you to do better so you can win next time. I say that a guy shouldn't feel that living the "manly role" is a burden but rather a right to of life.

  1. I agree with your point that sports have a lot of advantages and can teach people, not only men, about life, team work and hard work. But what happens if boys do not like to play sports? While it is a choice, do they face criticism and is their masculinity called into question?
